Sunday, May 29th, 2022 11:10 pmCan't tell if this year is an exceptionally flowery one or if I'm just noticing it because I walk everywhere, but jeez the lily of the valley are rioting away, even in my own neglected yard. Someone has a whole front garden of it. OTOH everyone else has banks of irises that even have a smell, while my few stalks remain tightly furled. And the lilacs are hanging in doggedly, now on their third week in some cases.
Knees and hips have been unwontedly owie these last few days and in spite of stretching I walk stiff man syndromely inside the house: and then I get outside and in short order am pushing the walker ahead of me and trotting up to catch it. Back still seizes up suddenly so I'm not quite ready to walk with my staff only but it seems I'm getting there?
Following James' review I got the first two volumes of the translated Apothecary Diaries, which is all the libary system has. Discover that one volume will happily get me through 40 minutes of bicycle machine, so have ordered the next two. It seems Indigo (Canuck Amazon) is offering the Japanese version as well and I dither about giving it a crack. It's not like I don't have shelves of manga and novels to read already. And I know from bitter experience that China-set anythings will employ obscure-to-me kanji in names and places and you name it.
