Dear god, zoological taxonomers, what were you smoking? Histrionicus histrionicus is not a fandom drama-llama, it's a duck. Troglodytes troglodytes? Not a bunch of chthonic cave dwellers: yer common or garden variety wren. Puffinus puffinus is a manx shearwater, while ordinary puffins, charmingly, are of the genus fratercula, little brothers, "a reference to the black and white plumage, which resembles monastic robes."

no, no. the fandom drama-llama would be Homo Sapiens Histrionicus :D

I suppose homo sapiens covers both sexes, but the temptaion to make that Mulier Insapiens Histrionica is almost unresistible.

Also ...Bellone Bellone is a GARFISH. Trachurus Trachurus is SCAD, Scomber Scombrus is Mackerel, and Anguilla Anguilla is your common eel and the Conger Conger is .... well a Conger! In fact most of the fish in the book 'Boat Fishing at Sea' have repeated names. I'm not really sure why I have borrowed a book about fishing written in the 80's with hippified fisherman (and one fisherwoman) pictures but there you go. ^_^

The story of the foot might surface at some point as might other things it's just that ugh! life is whizzing by and I enjoy reading others' postings and posting comments on entries. Which are by far more intersting (at the moment) than anything I can post about.

Hope you're good. *hug*

... and yes Taxonomers gave my beleaguered 'A' level brains a huge headache when learning about claasification and diversity all those decades years ago.
