I'm using this icon way too much these days

Oh, glad someone noticed. Power off for two hours from midnightish at the same station that let us freeze in the dark back in January, and not a word from Hydro even now.

Were I richer than I am I *would* get a Blackberry with net access, just because the only people with info about these things are online. Mind you, if power's off in the house then my router's off too, right? Maybe should save my money for battery-powered fans for when this happens in the summer.

(And Firefox still insists on updating without asking my permission.)

A Blackberry would still work, unless the cellular network is down, as that is how it gets its internet connection. I've been tempted myself, but $62/month for a basic dataplan is too steep. *sigh*

Eeps at that pricetag. Err, no, I'll live without my net in the case of a blackout.

But they're not the only cels with internet connection, are they?

Nope, not at all. It just depends on how much you want to use it.

For example, my LG Rumor (http://www.itechnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/Sprint-LG-Rumor-Smartphone.jpg) lets me access the internet at a cost of 5c/page for pages outside the Virgin Mobile main ones (same price for pay-as-you-go or on a plan). So I can get Gmail or Twitter, if I want to. Likewise, most "smartphones" will do this, without requiring that you get the data plan.

The main drawback is always screen size and what you can live with, but in case of emergency and lack of other news sources, they can be handy.

Oh right. Bitty bitty screen size. Forget that.

Select Options from the Tools menu, click on Advanced, then Updates, then change the Firefox updates option to "ask me what to do when one is found".

And I hope it takes no for an answer, now that it's installed the latest version of itself. Luckily I rarely use the horrid thing.

And yet, it's such a nice icon. =p
I cannot convince myself to pay the money it takes to get a decent data plan for my cell phone. I have pay as you go coverage and even that is a struggle for miserly old me.

It's a lovely icon, and the painting it came from is even better. Poor old Goushou, never satisfied.

I'm going to have to get a cell eventually, it's just that the whole thing is traumatizing to technophobe me.

I don't even know how to use at least a third of the functions my cellphone is capable of--and I got a "simple" one!

ahahaha! Me too, same with mine!! ^__^ I'm certain my girl and boy can work it out though!
