Because it must be said: concerning Ya Yu
When I can be arsed to turn the Chinese subtitles on and find out what it is that people are really saying to the Emperor that gets translated as 'You are brilliant!' (my knee-jerk response: 'You're pretty bright yourself') I shall say it about Ya Yu. For the moment I'll confine myself to Japanese: o-migoto.
Magnificent. Magnificent. Bravo, bravissimo! Dammit, guys, *this* is how you do female characters. (using my other stunning!retainer icon because I don't have a Ya Yu one.)

Most usually 大王英明 or 大王圣明, "the King is magnificently wise" or "the king is sagely wise." The first is how Gou Jian addresses Fu Chai (英明的上王) in the recitation , which I've edited to show (http://rasetsunyo.livejournal.com/78619.html) but didn't get reflected in the first version I posted. (main reason because I was parsing the phrase into 英 outstanding and 明 bright and the meaning of the whole phrase got lost somewhere in the drafts)
Both phrases are usually applied to rulers not retainers though.
