Fabulous Invalid

How very disconcerting to have no sensation in one's fingers. My experience with local anesthetics has all been teeth, where the numbness fades after an hour. I don't know whether to be grateful or concerned that for all intents and purposes my ring finger is still absent after five. (Those of us with acute imaginations of disaster should not read the terms of those releases you sign prior to surgery.) However, sensation is returning to the fingers on either side of it, so I'm sure the deep gouge in the fourth finger will be calling attention to itself soon. This is why I have percocet. ("For *severe* pain, not mild or moderate," the pharmacist emphasized.)

Note that I had the operation on a different finger than intended. The bump on the index finger had been steadily subsiding, once it was too late to cancel the surgery. Meanwhile a ganglion on the ring finger had been steadily growing. So my breezy surgeon removed that instead. Would rather have stitches at the base of my fourth finger than the tip of my index, so go me.

Quite unrelatedly, so glad I made a rain icon, because that's what we got.

It might amuse you that while updating the procedure classification at work today, I was adding several new codes for dealing with ganglions. (Injection of ganglion, biopsy of ganglion, aspiration of ganglion, other specified operation on ganglion . . . We already have excision of ganglion.)

Hope that the sensation returns soon and that it's not too annoying while healing up.

The Flow flows, indeed. There is now a phantom sensation in the finger that whispers 'Have you *seen* how many stitches I have?' (I have. My surgeon sews no better than I do.)

Anaesthetic or no, 'OWOWOWOWOWOW! OW!!!'

Yes hope the fingers heal up fast and do what they are supposed to when told to.

*hugs*

I could wish for some rain, real rain, because all we've had is pissy little hissy fits that only steam up on the hot pavement and not much else. Either that or a good strong breeze to blow away the humidity somewhere else. 'tis only June ... a couple of months more of this for us I'm afraid. Is why I'm partial to those lovely wet monsoon rains. Winds, wet and sleeping weather. ^_^

The distinct absence of OWOWOWOWOWOW! is what disconcerts. I suppose I should be grateful. And it does everything it should- bends in its wonted manner- but I can't feel it doing it. Surreal.

Might have known that LRD would be exempt from everywhere else in the world's cool wet June. Shall wish you early monsoons and what you laughingly describe as 'sleeping weather'.
