Wandering about Other People's FLs, as is my wont, I came across stills from a Korean TV series, Arang and the Magistrate. Conveniently available online, and the upshot is that today I've just watched 3+ hours of it. Each ep runs a little over an hour: I take it the Koreans are generous with their time slots.

And oh what fun it is. We got beautiful young ghosts and beautiful young magistrates and beautiful young Jade Emperors (his actor was 18 or 19 when the series was filmed) who own beautiful young flower-growing goats and play go with the lord of Hell. We start with an amnesiac ghost and segue into a murder mystery, or possibly two murder mysteries, and a bunch of other mysteries: the local lord's strange son, the local lord's strange words to his son (subtitles better than Woxin but no guarantees from me as to completeness or accuracy), the oddities of the magistrate's maternal background, the buried but not decomposed corpse... We also have hell mouths and the river to the afterworld, looking very Ima Ichiko-ish; and this is only the first four eps. Sixteen more to go, and who knows what they'll provide?

This sounds utterly fantastic.

(Though how does a goat grow flowers?)

They seem to be planted down its back, and the Jade Emp waters them from time to time. A living flower pot, basically.
