In which I am domestic

"The best thing for being in a foaming fury", Merlin said, "is to clean something." (I was in a foaming fury for the usual RL reasons, boosted by my body's best efforts to lay me low with oh I dunno-- the usual December sinus infection, I fancy. Some things mindfulness meditation has no power to cure.)

Thus I cleaned, washing the dishes and vacuuming the rugs, and then rifled through the various catchall baskets scattered around the house on the off-chance that one of them might contain my lost address book. No luck, but I found my 2011 day book, that had many of the missing addresses in the back, and a folder of dragon stamps. So I wrote a bunch more Christmas cards and called that accomplishment, or more accomplishment than bad-temperedly reading the sequel to The Janissary Tree and doggedly refusing to write Christmas cards.

Nice if the dragon stamps had been local instead of international, but OTOH the int'l stamps the PO gave me were Titanic centenary ones. For people who aren't even allowed to read books during family hols because the word sounds like 'lose', I'm sure Titanic stamps would negate all my words of seasonal cheer, so probably as well. And apologies to people who got Titanic ones.

I have just received the card from you (though I assume it was an earlier mailshot than this), and am very appreciative. Thank you. ;)

And I have just received a package with a card from you. Our timing is impeccable!

Do you want to come clean some of my mess too? No, no I jest. I am also too late with Christmas cards, so Chinese New Year cards it will have to be. As with you since I do haave some leftover from this year, quite a few might be getting dragon-ny ones. Not that I would get any complaints from most folk on my list ... and besides a serpentine dragon is sort of snake-ish ... so manybe they won't notice the difference.

And perhaps your address book is in the same place with mine. *sigh*

Have a good weekend. I really need to find the oomph from somewhere to do some tidying up myself. Failing that I ought to read the books I got out from the library, before Sunday, which is when they are due.

*hug*

I will take dragons any time.

Chinese New Year is a more rational time to send cards than Christmas. Though I suppose the hoo-ha there is much like the Xmas hoo-ha here and both seasons are rushed for those involved. But from a northern perspective, CNY enlivens the flat dispiriting 3 month stretch between western New Year's and Easter. The days may be getting longer but January and February is when the cold and snow happen, so a reason to celebrate is much appreciated.

Once Friday is past I intend to allow this ear infection/ sinus infection/ whatever free rein and luxuriate in illness. I have six days of no work and will make the most of it. But dear lord, LRD is work oriented. Libraries open on a Sunday? Not *exactly* unheard-of-- one or two branches are open here-- but decidedly not the norm. Hope you feel better, whatever.
