Reading Aaronovitch's past entries, I come across this filk. "I was once again contemplating the problem of pushy minor characters and how they can encrust the bottom of your narrative like barnacles"

And I realised that she was right

Hee! A friend of mine in university made a filk very like that called "50 Ways to Off Your Budgie": "Just poison his seed, Reed; Step on his head, Fred; Make sure that he's dead, Red ... ."
And I understand what he means, though I don't have the problem much in fanfic. If minor characters can't run amok in fanfic, where can they do it?

... except Joss does not get them lost, he kills them hard for maximum emotional manipulation wattage, leading to tears in some people but massive outrage on my part XD
