Happy thing for the day

Ganked from asakiyume, the happy inauguration of the Kyuushuu Shinkansen last March, greeted by cheering Kyuushuuites all along its journey, including a team of what I take to be Ultramen, a few bouncing station attendants, and a whole buncha people waving what looks surrealistically like Gay Pride rainbow flags.

Turns out that that inaugural run was one day after the earthquake, so people had extra need of good news.

I'm glad /you/ found the video so I could see it and get all weepy nostalgic for JR. And yes, reading Friends of friends is a daily pastime for me. It's more informative than online solitaire, at least.

I wondered when it said 'March', but assumed it must have been in the days before. All those waving people had just come from their television sets and internets. A chilling thought.
