Getting rid of the fail and twit logos
Supposedly you can add customized css to your lj so you no longer see the boxes under the comment box.
This post gives the css to do it. Note that it doesn't work for me. Its coding is .b-repost-item, #repost_twitter, #repost_facebook{display:none;}
This post gives a slightly different css to do it. Note that it doesn't work for me. Its coding is .b-repost-item {display:none}. Does the extra semicolon in the first css make any difference to anyone else?

But the coding still doesn't remove the repost boxes and I can't figure out why.

Then again, once the weekend brings in its 'high 18', I expect *nothing* to bother me anymore.

I can't think of a reason why it's not working for you.

.b-repost-item {display:none}
will disable the ticky boxes, but not if you use the LJ default style for your comment pages -- that is, the plain blue-and-white page that we see now. Don't understand why it should matter, but it does. *shrugs* Hopefully someone else will find a workaround until we get a damn OPT-OUT button.

Lj never gives us OPT-OUT buttons. But I dislike DW's layouts even more than lj's, so here I stay.

How nice that work has only one more day to go? And the reason is in the next comment down.

Someone else was saying that the CSS hack I came up with only works with S2 themes, but I don't know enough about it to say whether that has anything to do with your problem.
If you figure anything out, be sure to post your findings so that others can benefit.
Cheers!

If you hide it, you hide the journal names on your friends list too. I'm not sure which way to jump; the surplus text is annoying, and I can recognise most journals by their icons, which is why it took a while to work out what was wrong; but upset people use different icons to post.

Maybe the default style is a holdover from Style 1 or whatever?
