DAMN

Another fake Antispyware malware has me, and the fix that worked last time won't work now. At least Firefox is OK so far. Anyone know how to get rid of AntispywareSoft when I can't run the antispyware programs, and my Malwarebytes found nothing in a safe mode scan?

I'm sorry, I don't know. I had to install Spyware Doctor myself, and I'm not sure that was a very good fix at that.

It's always hard to know what's a legit removal site, but this one (http://www.geekpolice.net/malware-removal-guides-f12/remove-antispyware-soft-removal-guide-t20959.htm) looks reasonable.

The key seems to be restart in safe mode with networking, then try this:

Please start Internet Explorer, and when the program is open, click on the Tools menu and then select Internet Options.

* Now click on the Connections tab and then the Lan Settings button
* Under the Proxy Server section, please uncheck the checkbox labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN.
* Click the OK button to close this screen. Then press the Apply button and then the OK button to close the Internet Options screen. Now that you have disabled the proxy server you will be able to browse the web again with Internet Explorer.

After that, try running Malwarebytes again.

My other favourite anti-everything tool is Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/). Not sure if it would help in this case.

The trick seems to be keeping your Malwarebytes updated. I reDled it and ran it in safe mode, and it seems (fingers firmly crossed) to have done it. Spyware Doctor was useless, BTW, so forget the fora that say to use that. I'd buy the pro version but I'm afraid it'd be as invasive as Norton.

Spybot seems like a good tool. Worth buying? since the trial removes only 20 entries of the 480 it says I have. ^^;;

Glad to hear it.

Afaik, Spybot S&D is freeware, or donationware. I haven't downloaded it lately, but I didn't think there was a "trial" version. *confused*

Try the CNet (http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html) download?

Safe mode's huge resolution means I saw the Download button for some registry cleaner and thought it was Spybot. -_- But have SpybotS&D now, thank you.
