Lowest common denominator is not the only denominator

You know, the whole tone and purport of this article annoys me. I suppose it's intended partly as humour? Then it's not the kind of humour I find funny. It's snide, shopping mall cynical, and cheap.

Wrapping up broken glass so the garbage collectors don't cut their hands is no badge of sainthood. It's common sense, which I fancy rather more people possess than (either) writer believes. And supposing the story of transplanting a human brain into a monkey isn't total fabrication, the brain probably came from someone who donated their organs after death. No need for the snotty 'swiped from some homeless person.'

I think this is the best assessment of why I fail to find much of Cracked.com to be worthwhile at all. The writers tend to be far too caught up in their own wit, which is a term I use loosely for this context.

I think the writers are drawing a flawed conclusion from their own premise - or at least, a near-sightedly dystopian one. They're harping an awful lot about "society doesn't work, and the one way it can ALMOST work is through complete capitalism and there's no reason to fight it". However, they seem to prefer to ignore the fundamental way humans differ from monkeys - the fact that even though we may not personally and emotionally connect with every other person we meet, we can still (well, most of us) INTELLECTUALLY understand that people outside our sphere can be people.

I don't think they transplanted a human brain into a monkey - they had a team of scientists who usually work on monkey brains run the same tests on a human brain. But yeah, real collegiate. Have seen the same information presented in better articles. XD
