And speaking of dragons...

Novik's website says Victory of Eagles paperback will be out July the something. Err uh hunh?

Book City doesn't have it but BC doesn't have much. So off I pedal to Bakka and look for VoE, which should be displayed everywhere if out. No displays. Ask the clerk. 'It'll be out in June." 'Anh, but, someone said it's out the 19th...' 'We don't have a definite date but we'll be getting it in June. You can pre-order it and I'll give you a call.' 'Ah no thanks, I'll come back.'

Odd. I could swear Shay bought it. So off I pedal to the World's Biggest Bookstore. Which has Victory of Eagles, that isn't available to the independents until next month. I have no idea what this is all about, but I fancy someone's getting shafted somewhere along the line.

How bizarre. I did in fact buy it on Victoria Day, and am now happily burning through it while on the bus. Except that means I will likely be done tonight. Hrm.

and am dying of the fact that I am reading this before Kiro, which means I cannot share bits of the odd things Temeraire is up to without spoilering! agh!

I have to read Empire of Ivory first and I actually don't want to. Depressing subject matter just for a start. And I hear VoE is the best book yet--- why can't I just skip to that.

Oh dear. And everyone here is terribly excited that it might get all the way up to 20C here as it will be sunny for 5 days in a row ... nights are still running 8-10C.

LOL! I'm so tired I can't even keep posting straight.

It's not uncommon for book publishers to cut special deals with a book store that gives that store the right to sell a book before anyone else.

Henh. I'm still boggling that Canada gets it before you, which seems all wrong.

Yeah well- west coast is west coast except when it's not. And when it's not it DIES because everyone thinks the west coast doesn't get hot.
