which I can't make scan nohow.

My thought too. Maybe it should be de l'amour, though I've no idea if it's grammatical or not.

It (barely) scans if one enunciates the second syllables of Pe-re, cet-te as the quaver notes, with the following de on F (if in C major). (I'm hardly in a position to comment on grammar, having just started to learn French.)

All the syllables in reconnaissance have to be given a beat: re-con-nai-san-ce. It's awkward, because one wants to elide the -ce with the following et. Fail.

Ah, so. In that case either reconnaisance has to be taken out completely (5 syllable word in 4/4 beat falling awkwardly between bars >_<), or the line has to be rewritten - perhaps you might like to?
