Monday

I won $12 in the lottery yesterday.

Last night I couldn't get my lenses out. Poked and pinched for ten minutes and nothing budged. Googled, webpage said it can take up to fifteen minutes to get a dry lens to let go. It did. Am not wearing lenses today.

Reading glasses in glass case turned up at work today.

Weather Underground has gone mad. Insists every morning that it's currently 28C at the station and the high will be 18. Alas WU, you used to be useful.

Reading The Best SF and Fantasy Stories 2015 in bursts. Various reviewers have said there's not a bad story in the bunch. All the stories so far have been dystopian downers except Gaiman's return to Neverwhere. I wait to see if there's anything upbeat to be had besides that.

Wanted a rum and coke after work. First restaurant was closed on Mondays, second was so sorry out of rum, third only had white. Went next door with my Pepsi can and drank their rum.

SF and Fantasy seems to run in cycles, several years of all downers, several years of all upbeat. I think it correlates with the economic and/or political atmosphere of the times. Glad your reading classes turned up. I can no longer function without mine.

Neither can I, which is why I have a half dozen pairs, all dollar store specials- one for every room in the house and a seventh for the backpack.

Except when I leave my lens out, cause then I can read with my near-sighted eye.

And you're amazing still to be wearing lenses ... after three years ... I just couldn't ... and ahahaha my dad is like that ... one for everywhere,

Lens singular, and I shall keep on as long as I can. If I have the second eye operated on, I'll be permanently long-sighted and *really* dependent on my reading glasses, which are never quite strong enough for fine print.

Yeah, it's weird, that the reading glasses are never good enough for me too.

I always assumed that if you get the expensive, 'calibrated to your own eyes' reading glasses, that they'll do what glasses should. Then I remember when I wore ordinary, expensive, calibrated to my own eyes glasses, and they never did.

Yes, yes true I think to the SF/F collections.
