I make it a rule not to post WIPs, but I'm posting the opening chunk of the current story because I have a feeling I'll take out half of it when the whole thing's finished and I come to edit it. Also to take my mind off what's happening to the south of us. It can be Wednesday nao, please?

Yes it was a little bit of an infodump... for me. ^__^ Lost me a couple of times on family relations but then I have always had a bad time tracking those (I speak of my own father;s family here).

But I actually didn;t mind that and enjoyed the read. Plus it was Gouen being Gouen so ... what's not to like. I'm a little fond of him. ^_~

The family relationships are half the problem, given that dragons think of these things differently from us. For one thing, Goushou seems to have had a daughter with his half sister, the Third Prince of the West. But since she's female evidently he doesn't consider her a relation at all.

And the other half is the similarity of names, especially when we're talking characters who aren't actually in front of you. We've never been introduced to Shantsu's sons so how are we to keep them separate?
