Idiots

Oh, very clever, transit union. Very clever. Through three weeks of negotiations it was '48 hours notice of a strike, we'll give you 48 hours notice if there's going to be a strike.' Until the union rejects the tentative agreement and then it's 'we'll close everything down at midnight on a Friday with thirty minutes notice-- *if* you're on the system already.' And for why? 'We're concerned that there'll be violence directed towards our workers if we announce in advance.'

Yeah. Right. Like people won't be mad now? 'But they can't do anything even if they are because we're on strike ha ha!'

Well played, sir, well played. A truly brilliant stroke. Now Monday, when your workers have been ordered back to work, should be veeery eeenteresting...

Well, and convincing even the moderate that maybe Dork Prmier has a point and transit should be declared an essential service, not allowed to strike.

Even the workers were saying This is batshit- they should've waited till regular closing at 2:30 am to announce the strike. For users, what the union did was no different from a wildcat strike- no warning, no idea that this *might* happen because the union was still in negotiaton, not even warning rumbles of 'we're not happy with the settlement and the membership may still reject it,' and maximum disruption at a peak user period.

ETA- oh and of course, that false sense of security engendered by the repeated assurances of 48 hours notification.
