Yanno, I see a certain kerfuffle happening in SPN fandom about the creation of fic archive for vetted fic, which the owners hope will bring less known writers to people's attention. There's a lot of people saying What a bad idea and This will divide the fandom and so on. One main argument against seems to be that people can already find good fics just by going through rec communities and their FLs. And I say, you're kidding, right? Go through the people you know and you're likely to be stuck with the BNFs still. The little guys off in their private ljs get lost.

Like transit lines, always. Half the trains run through Shinjuku Station in the west. Everyone knows the beauties and horrors of Shinjuku Station (the one that six million people a day pass through.) People coming in on JR or the private Odakyu line or the Marunouchi and Yurakuchou subway lines or even the city-run Touei line all meet in Shinjuku and can swap their fics there. But if you live up in Minami Senju on the Jouban line (whazzat?) in the north-east, you rarely go to Shinjuku yourself and for sure no one from Shinjuku ever comes to Minami Senju. Your Minami Senju fics drop right through the net.

If I didn't read other people's FLs (and not the friendsfriends thingy which is a) random and b) kills my low resolution with cat macros and food porn) I wouldn't have found even this one, from a writer and community I know.

Hmmm, Shinjuku is a frightening place, I took the last train out of there once and I don't think I will EVER do it again.

Like the low brow person that I am, I read the OPD and I started singing: "are you down with OPD? YEAH, you know me..." and I was amused to think of Goujun that way. Although I have always been interested in his interactions with the rest of the kami and how some might rub him the right way XD.

I can't wait to get my own copy of WARD so I can stare at the battle between him and Kenren. Although I realize he is just going after the wrong guy.

You can get used to Shinjuku if you stay in Tokyo long enough. (Which I admit is a bit like my sister's line, They say you can get used to thumb-screws.) Noticing how the Japanese seem to have radar-sense avoidance I once tried the experiment of closing my eyes and walking through the rush-hour crowds. Didn't bump into anyone.

Fic archives work fine. (It would be interesting to start to head backwards in fandom to fic archives...) You can sometimes "minimize" (not completely avoid) politics by not saying things like "I only have THE BEST here." Rather "here are fics I like."

FF.net still works well (heresy, I know, to say) for smaller fandoms. It works okay for SPN if you go through the C2 sections, and you know what you like. (Personally, I tend to like the "pre-series non-slash(!) brotherly love" stories for SPN.) Not very good for stumbling on potentially great stories though. (So...many...Mary Sues...)

Umm I have a question. I'm writing my last spk prompt, and I would like to use one line of your translation of the lastest Gaiden installment over at RFB. Will credit of course. But if for whatever reason it isn't do-able, I'll use a similar sounding line instead.

This round seemed tougher to write. ^__^ but yeah self torture is something I seem to sign myself up for. Still 6 isn't many when I see people who've signed up for incredible numbers! *one wonders how they do it*
