I come home to find every entry at
saiyuki has been replaced by a "you are about to view material which may not be suitable for minors" message asking people to verify their ages. Click on the Yes I am over 14 link and you get a 404 not found. 'Or you can update your user information' to give your birth year, something even mangaka don't do.
So, for the record, I was born in 1980. Which, for certain values of 'born', is quite true.

I can access Saiyuki alright, I guess I passed the test.

I didn't pass the test until I gave a birth year. Which is fine, no one expects you to be truthful online, but it bugs me that they require a piece of information that isn't one I want to put online.

I was particularly taken by a staff response, which I've mislaid, in lj biz, which explained that you needed to send proof of age to be able to see adult flagged posts if your journal had been mistakenly tagged as belonging to to a minor, but not if you created a new journal.
In another thread commenters explained how it was possible to lie about your age.
