Because I'm in an Akama mood today ('I'm bored! Let's poke the humans into displaying their worst side!') I'm tempted to start an lj community called cat_free where people can post about how much they hate cats and how wonderful their lives are without them. The results would surely be, well, Akama-amusing. Alas, or possibly fortunately, there already is a [livejournal.com profile] cat_free on lj, who posts in Russian.

(Nice Man, come fix my scanner so I can have a proper 'le youkai qui rit' Akama icon.)

Pussy_free wouldn't have quite the same ring, would it?

Ur. Guh. Blzft.

No, probably not, but I am *oh* so tempted...

[livejournal.com profile] baka_neko posted something about a book series "Jane Austen with dragons" (http://baka-neko.livejournal.com/175005.html?style=mine). I dunno if you know about it, and it sounds like your thing, so I point.

(nods) Tooth and Claw. (You mean you hadn't heard about that one? We move in different circles indeed.) It's not really Austen so much as Trollope: but it's a small section of the population that knows Trollope, let alone reads him. So far there's just the one book, that won some prize last year. I gave my copy away unread. The author has an lj and is my prime example of why authors shouldn't.

Eh. I have only vague awareness of these things. Q told me I was all oblivious and stuff (like this is news). She pointed out that I did know who the author was, if only in terms of being one of the louder and more persistent "Fanfic rapes my babies!" voices drifting around the LJ-sphere.

The odd thing is that I doubt anyone has ever written any fanfic of her books, or would want to. But it's the principle of the thing, naturally. Fanfic rapes somebody's babies and thus is a Bad Thing.
