kickinpants' latest EC fic, besides being a happy return to a happier series and time, usefully reminds me where I've seen Goujun before. To wit, Executive Council President Matsumoto: sitting behind a desk and looking sour at ur-Tenpou Kubota and *especially* at ur-Kenren Tokitoh. Of course, Matsumoto also looks blandly sexual on occasion, and in fact frequently. As one reads Goujun back onto Matsumoto, so one could conceivably and usefully apply Matsumoto's indefinable seductiveness forward onto Goujun.

But that still leaves Goujun uke, of course.

Not by me. Tachibana is... Tachibana is, oh, flowing locks and lavender eyes and silent support and gentle asides that slip a finely honed knife between the ribs. Matsumoto is Cool but Tachibana is even Cooler than Matsumoto. Matsumoto can work up an irritated sweat but Tachibana never even blinks. Tachibana is the school's official Wanna-Screw, so voted by the entire male population.

Homura isn't even close. He has Issues. Men with Issues and honking big swords are... automatically disqualified from coolness.

the first time I read "Hondking big swords" I'dread it as 'words' not swords. I have become dyslexic or something! Age catching up??? Whatever.

But yeah I guess that Homura isn't a good candidate.

It could be a situation like the one I think of in the Saiyuki-verse...Hakkai and Nii are like different sides of Tenpou...in this case it could be that Tachibana is another side of Kubota in the same way. Same but different if you see what I mean...on the other hand you could put it down to having the sun fry the brain! ^__^

Kou in WA is probably a close to Tachibana, but I don't see Kou as "secret seme" as Tachibana is. (Maybe it's all those Kasai stories...)

Actually...Kanzeon wouldn't be a bad Tachibana (although not as polite)...but would very much be on top...

Kou is closer than Kanzeon in my mind. Essence of Tachibana to me is his low-key 'power behind the throne' feel and low-key seductiveness. It wouldn't surprise me to find that Kou is the power behind someone's throne (or equally that he's just the uninvolved facilitator he seems to be) but Kanzeon *is* the thone. Kou's seductiveness is equally low-key, while Kanzeon's is blaring in-your-face.

But of course the main thing about Tachibana x Matsumoto is that they're a team. That emotional connection can't be duplicated by an arbitrary yaoi pairing. What we see of Goujun is always Goujun alone: he *has* no strong right hand man that we know of.

I actually did notice it when I did that pic of Goujun I sent along and was struck by a sudden desire to write Matsumoto/Kubota/Tokito overlap with Goujun/Tenpou/Kenren invovling green tea..the idea is sadly in pieces and will probably never see the light of day. >.< But the thought was there and it was a delicious thought. ^__^.

The panel I did the picture from could well be the same one you're speaking of.

I must have been either asleep or mad, because your Matsumoto/ Kubota/ Tokito overlap with Goujun/ Tenpou/ Kenren didn't even register with me. How curious. A lovely idea but bloody impossible to write, I'd think (and promptly thinks of a way one could write it.)
