OP: Can we please stop using "emo" to describe characters who are justifiably full of angst? Please?

Last response: We can, but we're not going to. Why? Because Hamlet is a whiny little emo bitch, that's why.

Rosencrantz: To sum up: your father, whom you love, dies. You are his heir. You come back to find that hardly was the corpse cold before his young brother pops onto his throne and into his sheets, thereby offending both legal and natural practice. Now... why exactly are you behaving in this extraordinary manner?

Guildenstern: I can't imagine.

But the old man thinks he's in love with his daughter...! XD Oh, R&G. So much love.

My god- we're out of our depth here!

(The toenails on the other hand never grow at all.)

GUIL: I think I have it. A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself.
ROS: Or just as mad.
GUIL: Or just as mad.
ROS: And he does both.
GUIL: So there you are.
ROS: Stark raving sane.

*So* much love.

Audiences know what they expect and that is all they are prepared to believe in.

We can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory.

Words. Words. They're all we have to go on.

But emo is such a catchy little category to squeeze someone into!

R&G! *swoon*

[identity profile] mvrdrk.livejournal.com 2007-04-27 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
You know, he should have just stuck with R&G.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2007-04-27 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
which he, Stoppard or Shakespeare? Because if the latter I can't agree. R&G are nasty treacherous sycophants and they make it quite clear they're willing to go along with Claudius' nasty plans. Besides, then we wouldn't have Hamlet/Horatio OTP

Darn. Now I have to go watch the Stoppard movie ...

Hi

I read your translation post of Petit Burial at radiofreebanri and I wanted to thank you for posting it. All kudos to radiofreebanri for taking the time to scan the manga, but I was mistaken and thought it was already translated, as I can't read Japanese.

I was wondering where you got the translations? Did you get them from any particular website? Would you mind giving me the link? Thank you.

Banri has strong opinions about fair fannish usage and copyright infringement, so you won't find scanlations at her site. Even scanning content is an antsy ethical area, and that I fancy is why the scans can only be seen by people who apply, and not just anyone who wanders in.

I was wondering where you got the translations?

Err- I did them myself. That's always the easiest way. ^_^
