"Writers can't be choosers"

I suppose I should trust my own advice. When you get down to the wire inspiration comes. It came. This morning in the sunshine after jeez a week was it? of grey and rain. If it didn't give me quite the story I was looking for, well, them's the breaks.

100 Demons, still vaguely squick-fic, still for [livejournal.com profile] mikeneko if she wants it.
Keepsake

And some lovely anonymous person has given me extra time and extra pics. Thank you lovely anonymous person. May you have a good Christmas or Kwanzaa or three-days-after-Hanukkah or (insert holiday of choice.) And everyone else here as well.

Woah. You went there. O_O I can't believe it.
In fact, I am vaguely squicked --

-- SO COOL! :D

But still, that aside, yeah, I'm thinking now the relationship of Kagyuu and Aorarashi is so twisty that it would almost have to be something like this. How else otherwise? Hmm. Plus the deep discomfort of Ritsu who winds up in these discussions that normal teenagers do not have with parents. Wondrous.

Oh, this made me laugh out loud:
But it was worrisome that they'd been talking about me together. It had to be about me: they don't have anything else in common, which ironically makes them very like an ordinary couple.

Very, very thrilled. Thank you so much. T_T

Ah, glad you liked. Something to amuse yourself till the yuletide archive opens.

I continue to read my Cent Demons for occasionally the fourth or fifth time, always stumbling across new details. Couldn't remember where I'd got my icon from and found it in a story with Aoarashi addressing Kagyuu's ghost as Miren na yatsu. Twisty indeed. (But foxes are very devoted. Why can't everyone be like foxes?)

And the more I think about it the less squicked I am about Kinu/ Aoarashi and the more it looks like simple, sensible settling for what you've got. Puritans though they can sometimes be, the Japanese still approach sex differently from puritan us. A country that has love hotels where highschool guys can quite openly take their girlfriends for afternoon nookie is-- not ours.

That said, a story where Aoarashi asks Ritsu for tips *would* squick me; but Aoarashi must know Ritsu has no experience so he wouldn't.

Hee! I don't know the fandom, but I like this a lot. ^_^

Thanks. And it's a wonderful series, all up to date translated into Chinese as well.

Warning...this is a drive by!

Ahaha! Merry Christmas, you both. How could I have forgotten, considering yuletide and the fact it was mentioned in the post? ^^;

Oh I dunno. Some of us do our best to filter the thing out. Shopping yesterday while some tuneless female voice droned 'Have yourself a merry little christmas' over the store's PA system I thought One more day, just one more day, and then all this crap will be **gone** for another- ten and a half months at least, thank god thank god thank god.

Christmas is for families and playing Warren Zevon.

Ohh! I don't know the fandom either...but I like it. Had to speed read it a little as the nut and mushroom thingamy is doing things I'm not sure it should be...

and damn Lego is NOT kind to the feet of unsuspecting mothers. WEll I suppose not really unsuspecting..and damn that hubby of mine..he bought it for himself. ^___^

Never mind!!!

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Lego in fact is one of the world's great cripplers, next only to unexploded landmines. I believe there's a move afoot to outlaw it under the Geneva Convention. Lego can blend into any carpet or tile floor, becoming to all intents invisible, and when you step on it your feet explode in pain. Shall show you my scars if ever I get to LRD.

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Shall show you my scars if ever I get to LRD.

Does that mean you're thinking about it? That would indeed be kewl. Would be most honoured to have you as a guest. You're welcome anytime!

I promise to put away Lego together with the children when you turn up!

Don't hold your breath. My current resolution is that I go absolutely nowhere until I get new feet. And if there's an 18 hour flight involved, a new circulatory system. By the time I get there your kids will be able to drive to the airport and pick me up.

LOL! If you read traditional Chinese, I'd be happy to send you a random volume or two. I have a few duplicates because I don't keep track of what I have ...

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2006-12-27 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh that is most kind but its alright. I don't read Chinese. and with the Japanese I'm only at the basic level, and it really wouldn't be worth it in the post half a world away!

but very kind again for you to offer and it made me smile!

thank you!

Ooh lovely.

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2006-12-25 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the words and it brought a smile, don'tknow why. Even though I'm not sure I get all the undertones due to lack of background knowledge I suppose.

"But your mother isn't. Your mother sees us but she doesn't look at us. A pity Kagyuu never learned the trick-- and of course you can't even see the difference."

I really like this line. Again I'm not sure why.

And I would love some extra time too! Don't know where it all goes. At least now I have a few moments to myself as children and hubby are safely ensconced in bed now! *Aah bliss*

Again thank you for a lovely read.

Thank you. I rather like that line too even if I'm not sure what it means. But that certainly seems to be what Ritsu's mother does. 'Oh. A woman with two fox tails. In my house. Ritsu, did you see a two-tailed fox here just a minute ago? I think she's gone now.'

[identity profile] mvrdrk.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! My favorite has to be the vague squickiness of it all. LOL! Puts me in mind of the time my baby sister asked in whispered, horrified tones 'do you think that mom and dad ...?'

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2006-12-26 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a common enough reaction for kids in this culture, I know, but I'm never sure if it's a universal. Somehow I expect Japanese teenagers to be as blase about it as French ones. 'But everyone does it.'

Granted, Ritsu's in an odd position. He *knows* Aoarashi is a not specially refined youkai. He also knows, and has said several times, that his mother and grandmother emotionally need to have that 'father' person in the house. He's probably not ready to admit that his mother's needs might be something more than just emotional. He's an adolescent who also believes the only thing his mother and Aoarashi could have to talk about is himself. But the fact is, it was Ritsu's mother who did the bulk of training Aoarashi in using a human body. I'm supposed to believe that left them with no shared history and Aoarashi with no special feelings about Kinu at all?

That's brilliant. Thank you, and merry Christmas!

Thanks, and merry Christmas back.
