Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own.
Got me a letter from
i_am_zan
(cut for random association as background music:
Well she wrote me a letter said she couldn't live without me no more
Listen mister can't you see I gotta get back to my baby once more--
the original version, for choice)
which was the letter K.
Taking 'things' in its most abstract sense here;
1) Kurosawa's films, because he's the one who started this whole thing for me back with The Seven Samurai. Also Kanbei and Kyuuzou, perfect delineations of their respective archetypes.
2)
kickinpants, because she is so kewl.
3) Kamakura- where you go to get away from Tokyo and into a Buddhist/ historical/ countryside mindset, all green hills and temples.
4) Kumquat- the word, which sounds like it ought to be an obscenity somehow, only it never quite is. We always had kumquats at Christmas. I don't like them as food- how could I?- but the taste is a fast track to the past and the problem that even now tickles my brain-- as with pomegranates, what's the point of a food you can't eat?
5) Kipling, Rudyard, and his kids' stories: Jungle Books, Puck, Just-so. Because the stories are satisfying and the poems are pointed and memorizable, and he's no worse than anyone of his period and a good deal better than most.
7) Karin by Kawasou Mayumi. I talk too much about this manga but it remains splendid. Chinese legend meets the Japanese mix-master mentality and a wonderful time is had by all.
8) Kou Josei series, by Fujita Atsuko. Chinese culture meets painstaking research and endless hours are spent scrutinizing her backgrounds. And wondering about possible slash with the aged Manchu emperor.
9) Kudzu, horrible name (where'd that 'd' come from? it's *kuzu*) but very good at covering and softening urban errors of taste. Up here it doesn't eat anything, just grows halfway up telephone poles and the occasional tree and smiles greenly in the summer sun.
10) Kir royale. Cause what's not to love about blackberry sirop, white wine, and fizzy water?
I want to do the anti-meme of this, because with K the anti- is almost easier.
kidneys
kittens
Stephen King
Stanley Kubrick
Kubo Tite
kiwi fruit
kelp
Kizuna
ketchup
khaki

Time that with this strange excuse6) Koala bears cause of their black noses. Possibly kangaroos as well, for giving my little friend Quentin the greatest moment of his life. Quentin was into rabbits in a big way. His mom took him to the zoo. Quentin went running to one enclosure with the look of one who has seen the Blessed Vision: Yabbit! Yabbit! 'And there by God was the biggest damn rabbit you could ever imagine.'
Pardoned Kipling and his views;
And will pardon Plaul Claudel:
Pardons him for writing well

Just commenting...but I don't want one back.
An anti-meme... that's like cool!
Not keen on the kidney idea myself for a lot of reasons!
Like what you did with the K. *hugs*

And I'll bite on a letter, if you're tossing them out. ^_^

OK. Try N. N gets no loving these days.

Hahah! I eat pomegranates if I'm bored and need something to occupy myself with for an hour or so. I agree with kumquats and kipling! =D

I'll attempt a letter if you're handing them out.

Wade-Giles being what it is (no really there's a logic to that remark) you can have T or D.

BTW if you see this before you go- if you're cruising Tokyo bookshops around the 15th can you get me a copy of the autumn WARD (name in romaji) with the new Gaiden ep supposedly in it? Would be much appreciated in these days of bad Gaiden karma. You needn't bring the whole bulky thing back if you don't like: the Gaiden ep is all I'm after.
