Has something happened to NY Kinokuniya? Its webpage is inaccessible, which is annoying. Balked of a proposed shopping trip to NY by continued-crappy lungs, feeling sorry for myself and wanting some 12 Kingdoms as consolation, I went to order online. NY Kinokuniya is closest and cheapest as far as shipping goes, but its wp returns server errors. Anyone know what's up? (And [livejournal.com profile] kickinpants- I was going to take advantage of your kind offer to forward but the Seattle store won't deliver to a PO address. What do you do when you order from them?)

Try San Fran's Kinokun and see if they do ship. If not, I can probably do a pick up for you after the con.. that is, if they didn't already bring it to the Con. At least, I THINK they are one of the yaoicon vendors...

[identity profile] joasakura.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
hey, speaking of vendors, are the deleter (markers+tones/etc) people coming again this year?

[identity profile] abyss-goat.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Nah. I don't think they got in on time (before tables were sold out).

aw, poop.

Nope, they're not. Kino is spotty on coming to the con.

Shipping from the US always means FedEx or UPS, who charge something like $35 to fill in tax forms at the border, even if the tax is (as it was once) $1.12. Paying someone for postage is cheaper. Theoretically my NY trip is only postponed two weeks, not cancelled, so I'll survive, but thanks for the offer.

[identity profile] joasakura.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
AFAIK, NY Kino is still ok - I just got a textbook (30$usd 0.o;;;) there last week.

let me know if you want me to pick you anything up there - it's on my way to class on fridays.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
(Ouch on the textbook.)

Could you? That'd be great. This (http://bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp/guest/cgi-bin/wshoseaohb.cgi?W-NIPS=997490904X&AREA=03) is what I want. Should I order it for pick-up by you? There's a notes place on the order form where I can say it's a present and you'll be coming to get it.

[identity profile] joasakura.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
surely! I can pick it up this friday.

(won't be in class next friday, as i'll be whooping it up in SF ^.^>)

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhh- hazukashii and all, but what's your last name again?

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
And another wrinkle. If it's visit and pick up they won't let you pay by credit card online, you have to pay there.

[identity profile] joasakura.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
that... makes no sense. but if you want, i can pay for it, and you can paypal me, or something.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
OK, thanks. I've put the order in and the site says they have copies in-store, so I hope it won't be anything like [livejournal.com profile] kickinpants says below, of waiting two weeks. Anyway they'll send me an e-mail if it's not immediately available.

kanji translation

[identity profile] baka-gaijin.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Hello! I know that you do a lot of translations. I was wondering if you've ever translated (or know of a translation for this baby sanzo (http://komyou.hp.infoseek.co.jp/komyomsama.index.htm) cartoon?

No to both questions, I'm afraid. Reading penji on a screen is more than my eyes are up to, certainly.

[identity profile] paleaswater.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
What happened to the trip? I haven't been checking my email.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Coughed myself into a muscle spasm last night, facing 10 hour day tomorrow, thinking that after that I just want to sleep for three days. Unfortunately the doctor says the cough will go on another month, but maybe with more rest than I'm getting I'll be up for it in two weeks.

[identity profile] tanbi.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh. I think I'm not be going to yaoicon after all. So if you're feeling better next week that weekend is open as well. Or come on Friday instead of Thursday. I can take Monday off instead of Friday.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry- that's the weekend I'm Jashaning. ^_^

[identity profile] tanbi.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Finger crossed you'll make it in two weeks then. Though you can rest this Thursday and see how you feel. If it gets better you can come on Friday and I can take Monday off. Air quality's better in NY than TO anyways.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Have changed train reservation and cancelled hotel, so it's probably not worth it. Also isn't it supposed to rain all weekend there?

[identity profile] tanbi.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
No, sunny on Sat, and only 30% change of rain on Sun. Hotel & train not a big deal, since it's a business hotel, so there's always room. If you're going to be up and about over the weekend as opposed to confined to bed you might as well. ^_^

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Except that I now recall that someone grabbed me for a Monday shift when she heard I'd be here after all. As ever.

[identity profile] paleaswater.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No chance that she could ungrab you, is there ? So the fate conspires. Well, make sure that you block off the weekend in two weeks before anyone grabs you, and hopefully I'll see u then.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2005-10-19 04:13 am (UTC)(link)

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....

...no.

The grave gives up its dead sooner than our staff give up their long weekends.

I order from Kinokuniya and then just pick it up there since I'm in that area (or visit the store) every Sunday after dim sum. They send you a notification card (or very rarely they call) to tell you your books are in. It takes about 2 weeks or so normally to get things. Sometimes longer if they're harder to find. My subscription to Chara is through Sasuga though and that just comes to my mailbox.

Although it looks like you're set now, I'd be happy to order anything for you in the future. :)
