Please will someone who's seen the Hellsing anime tell me why at the end of ep 13 Hellsing is underground in what looks like Seras' room and wearing what looks like restraints? Or am I hallucinating? It's very hot as an image, whatever, but (pathetically) it makes no sense.

And [livejournal.com profile] incandescens, what volume of the manga has the Seras blood-drinking scene? I'm at the point of daring the awful-looking translation just for the canon but at $15 a pop plus tax I don't feel like buying the whole set.

(goes to look) Volume 4 of the manga. (Ow, expensive.)

I'm afraid I can't help with the anime; I've only ever watched the first couple of episodes.

(gloomy) I knew it'd be the one the bookstore was out of.

I seem to be working rather a lot lately but some day when I'm uhh not working rather a lot I'll go down to Highway Robbery North and see what the Japanese version costs. If Saiyuuki is any standard, probably $25. (pathetically wishing publishers/ booksellers would take note of strong loonie and adjust their exchange rates accordingly.)

I'm assuming that's Canadian dollars rather than US ones? Even so, that is painful. Blasted publishers/booksellers. Feh.

$25 Canuck indeed, once taxes are figured in. Kikiwai is noted for unreasonable prices. You can do this when you're the only game in town.

The blood part of the preview doesn't ring a bell at the moment. I know most of the preview for the Hellsing anime is stuff never put in the anime but in the manga.

I'll agree the transltion is painful. I have to read Anderson aloud a few times to get it sometimes. If you can wait to save Barnes and Nobles is rereleasing them at 9.99 in hardcover versions (that look really nice from the outside at least). Looks like only volume 1 is out in that format.

Alas B&N are an American chain. Even ordering online would probably add $25 to my total bill because these people *will* use UPS etc to ship, and the delivery companies charge an arm and a leg to do the tax paperwork at Customs.

If you want to borrow our copies, we can send you those. We've got 1-6 in japanese and 1-5 in english. We're not actively reading it at the moment, so you can keep them as long as you'd like.

For someone not actively into Hellsing you have a lot of Hellsing, she says with interest. What was the hook with you? I would love Japanese 3-6, since I hear anime diverges after vol 2 or so. Thank you immensely.
