Minor grumble- LJ keeps forgetting that I've set 'Enable to use the old comment page instead of the newer style specific view' to yes, override default. It's always like that on my edit customizations page, but regularly once a week a comment of mine will appear in someone's (hard to read) customized style.

And the next grumble is, why do people have hard to read customizations hmpf? What's the virtue of say quarter-size font in red on a pink background? or brown on yellow? My resolution is 640x480 and it's still tiny. What do people do at 1280 x 1024? Use Firefox and enlarge text size to 300%? because I can't see otherwise how you can read any font at that resolution. Especially when it's red on pale pink.

1280 x 1024 doesn't actually make everything smaller over 1024 x 768, I think, it increases the amount of "blank" desktop space instead. (Or I could be wrong. But on one of those 19"-plus monsters that's designed to be used at 1280 x 1024, even 1024 x 768 is intolerably fuzzy and over-large - like things get when you take off your glasses. Gives one a headache to look at.)

That being said, people have tiny font sizes when they assume everyone has perfect or perfectly corrected eyesight. The colours issue can often be because their screen has higher contrast, so it shows up quite well on theirs.

It makes everything smaller on this 17" beast- icons, font size and program screens. 1024 x 768 is miniscule but *just* readable if you squint. 1280 x 1024 is half the size and flickers unbearably even when one isn't an inch away from the monitor trying to see what it says.

Then it's not designed for 1280 x 1024. XD Sometimes they give 4-5 settings per screen, but it's a damned lie: you're lucky if two are usable.

This is a fact that should be more widely known. I'd assumed this was all standard throughout. Makes buying a monitor a headache, though; but since I've no desire for a huge jobbie that requires you to have everything small, I suppose I can keep buying other people's cast-offs. (I want a good 15 inch but can't find one. 17" is all we have.)
