Gourmandise
My doctor assuring me that my blood sugars are back to normal should not be a signal for me to go all damn the torpedoes about sweet things but, well. Am about to run out of gin which may put paid to the gin and tonics, but when I find myself up at Loblaws (picking up a prescription and finding it unusually easy to walk with the rollator as a bonus, after a night of many wakings with twinging knees, both of them) and Loblaws has its almond meringue pastries again, of course I'm going to buy one. Meringues are just egg whites and sugar, after all, and three or four chopped almonds won't kill me.
Then I was going to buy a strawberry and cream frappucino from Starbucks but there was only one clerk making mochas for several other people so I walked away from that fat hazard, since I still have to watch my cholesterol. (OTOH the calorie count is under 400. That's less than a tuna sandwich.) To make up for it I stopped at the Thai place and got an order of crispy beef, which is coated and fried. And to make up for *that* I bought their stirfried vegetables as well. The beef comes with veg too so I wound up eating carrots and snap beans and bok choy and broccoli and cauliflower and mushrooms and zucchini and a very little red pepper. The baby corn went into the organic garbage since I forgot to tell them to leave it out, as did the green pepper because I hate the taste as well as it it being a deadly nightshade. So I am replete. In a week or so the scale will register another kilo, but repentance can wait till then.

So rare that satiation combines with health, but nice when it does.
