Dear god, I would so wear these if I could ie if I had a waist. Especially the pants. 2016 Chuyan spring&summer collection; inspired by traditional Chinese clothes hanfu. Colors and patterns from dunhuang murals.

Never thought I went for the orangeys, but I suppose there's another name for these colours?

Gorgeous!! The pale orange looks almost like peach, pale rust, or high iron content sandstone. While the colors come from old paintings, I wonder if time has faded the original murals and the designer increased the intensity of the colors for the collection.

And I wish I had a waist, too! I wonder if the street cosplayer/hobbiests who were trying to revive old Han era clothes as street clothes may be starting to have some impact on the real world.

I had the same thought about the colours, but mostly because the oldest ukiyo-e have faded to that same kind of pale peach/ pink and I assumed the Dunhuang murals had too, desert or no desert.

Personally I'm all for anything that falls from above the waist, meaning influenced by Regency or trad Korean. Cannot understand the retro look going now- frocks with waists and skirts.

Persimmon is exactly the word for some of those shades.

I have a tendency to confuse Korean Hanbok with some of the old Chinese fashions, like these Tang ones. I think there's an influence between them. As it's turning out, a lot of us have out narrowest parts up near the bust, not down at the waist. I got the Heifer catalog just today and it was pointing out that India and some other ancient cultures used saffron for dye, so the color could also be related to that, though saffron always makes me think more orange yellow than orange pink, though it's merely a guess.

Tang influenced Japan's early costumes so it must have influenced Korea. In fact, I'm pretty sure it influenced Japan by way of Korea.

It's also that if you have no waist, fashions designed to go in at the waist look weird; and even if you do have a waist, it still looks weird if you have any kind of bust or hips.

Saffron makes me think orange-yellow too- the colour of monks' robes.
