Had one of my laryngeal spasms as I was coming up from the basement at work. Staff standing in the hallway blanched. "Are you all right? What's the matter? Did someone die?" She didn't register this as a physical problem, but took my flooding eyes, gasping voice, and expression of agony to be an indicator of emotional trauma.

See the doctor about it tomorrow anyway. Am sick of devouring two rolls of lifesavers a day in an attempt to stave off the tickle-spasm. Very expensive spray was clearly a fluke.

Also, I have just received the birthday present. Thank you very much indeed! A good cleaning cloth is absolutely a godsend, and very much appreciated. And the card is lovely.

Have had my first dose of 'put the cough centre in the brain to sleep' liquid, a small one because I made the mistake of reading the literature that came with it. Terrifying stuff, but these things always are. We shall see what happens.

Surprised the package got there so fast, but glad it did.
