Oh dear. The ebook of Lies Sleeping has arrived. To read in that uncongenial format or not to read? Must decide, and soon, because people are waiting for my copy.
Made for me when I opened the file up. I literally can't follow what it says. So shall wait for my copy, which may turn up in February the way things are going. The Mortal Word still hasn't appeared after five weeks: 30 day backlog plus now Christmas rush.
If I get too desperate, I shall buy a copy at Bakka, but I still have a few more books left to reread.
Incidentally, I have just received your Christmas card - thank you! Of course, anything I send is very unlikely to reach you by Christmas. (Though would your local Amazon be likely to get it to you in time, or is that wishful thinking?)
Good heavens, that was faster than I expected. Maybe it *is* only parcels that are affected.
Mh, should I remind you that there are currently not one but two presents from you on their way to me? Three is surely a work of supererogation, as my father used to say. (Oh look, that's not a legal term, it's religious. How odd, given that he was brought up Methodist.)
I hadn't meant them for Christmas presents - but that's a fair point. Merry Christmas, then. I'll put a card in the post to follow them, and we can test the post/parcel hypothesis. :)
Ibelieve they were in fact consolation for my now almost completely healed ribs. Best laid schemes etc etc. But I will gladly accept them as Christmas presents if they manage to arrive within a week of same, on whichever side.
Yes, let's see if we can do a double blind test here. Though I seem to recall that one year Canada Post managed to lose your Christmas card until February, so the results may still not be statistically indicative of anything
