A taste of autumn

Now if this were 50 years ago, tonight would get down to 5C/ 40F and we'd be turning on the furnace. As it is,  'we got up to 19 briefly, we'll hit 13 just about dawn'-- but the clouds were the grey velvet of the old Autumn Previews and someone was burning wood and thus it was autumn for a bit. Not that autumn is ever really like this, of course. Anyway, have opened bedroom window and installed the window fan after many weeks of the AC. (Hydro bill came last week, less than $50, so obviously I'm not as extravagant as all that. Except I am, because I deliberately overpaid last month. It's still a pittance compared with what gas costs in winter.)

And it will be 30C/ 86F on Sunday, so enjoy it while it lasts. 

But I'm also having the itchy ear and stuffy nose that accompanied the old Autumn Previews,  probably from the ragweed in bloom,  and that I would be happy to do without.
