Rotator cuff being as unhappy as it was in yesterday's humidity, I cabbed to massage, which meant I was twenty minutes early, so I went to the pharmacy down the street. A community FB page had said that their walk-in clinic had gone to appointments only and I needed to check that out, since hospitals' emergencies these days are really only for life-threatening cases and my own doctor is far away. They are indeed open but have cut back to 10 to 3. And since people were coming in while I was there, claiming fever and dry cough and not wearing a mask while they did it, I hope I stay healthy.

But the pharmacy part of the store had signs about vaccines available and I asked if they did boosters (my local drugstores only do first and second shots) and he said yes, but only till next Wednesday. This left little time for do I don't I so I did. Pfizer rather than Moderna this time so I had no idea what the side effects would be like. Yesterday afternoon I was fuzzy and sleepy, today I have a little bump on my right arm (because left is the rotator cuff one and I didn't want to have that and the arm swelling like a balloon.) Tomorrow who knows, but it's going to rain all day so I wouldn't be going out anyway.

There were two young women sitting in the chairs by the pharmacy side who both got up to offer me a seat. (I want to say 'girls' because that's how late teens/ early twenties look to me now, but I have to nip any Old People mannerisms in the bud.) I assured them that I'd sit on my rollator, thanks, and we started talking about the shots. 'I never get much of a reaction,' I said, and the dark one groaned feelingly. 'I wish I didn't. I get the whole shebang.' 'You must have a strong immune system' I consoled her-- which also means I don't. I have a cloistered lifestyle instead.

As for the rumoured Omicron-focussed jab, pharmacist says it's still pretty much all talk so far.

Anyway, being unfuzzed today I went to the library to return books and pick up holds, then to the greengrocers, and the restaurant with the patio. The owners are Asian of some description- the inside has a Buddha statue enshrined at one end, with offerings- but they do western as well as Vietnamese and Thai. And after two Singapore Slings and a hamburger I walked home consciously trying not to hunch over the rollator. Hunching helps my spasming back muscles but also adds ten years to my presentation: like the little old lady at London and Euclid who is naturally bent in half but who still gardens and buys her own groceries and only uses a cane. Then I collapsed on the sofa for ninety minutes because breeze or no, it was still a 33C humidex and I was zonked. Some day I'll walk upright again but that day is still not yet.
