Friday, March 4th, 2022 10:00 pmI don't believe this is the first time I've been to the laundromat since late November but I can't remember the last time I was there. In any case, I have clean sleep hoodies again. Except-- either they've got a new brand of Tide (remember to bring my own from now on) or- more likely- one of the dryers had previously been used by someone who puts fabric softener in their laundry, feh. The faux perfume chemical stink lingers in one of the hoodies and is making my head ache and my nose run. Will hang it on the line tomorrow and if that doesn't work, leave it on the line for Sunday's rain to rewash.
The problem is having nowhere to stash it in the meantime.
Tempted by phrases like 'falling off the bone', I did pork in the crockpot last week. Evidently you can't do this with pork chops because eight hours didn't soften them a bit. Also I sauteed the onions, the second day I'd had onions slow-cooked in olive oil, which meant I was eating dry toast and crackers for three days after. My system has always been iffy about olive oil but periodically it remembers it doesn't have a gall bladder either, and the results are not pleasant. Have frozen the remainder but wonder if I'll ever be able to eat it. A pity, because crockpot cooking is the only way to date that renders frozen veg edible. And it has to be frozen because one person can't go through the usual volume of fresh veg without, say, eating broccoli for five days in a row.
