The roofers have come, the roofers have gone
Monday, August 23rd, 2021 04:06 pmLeaving my steps, back and front, much cleaner than I could get them. They also lopped a foot or so off that blasted mulberry- unintentionally, I'm sure, while pitching shingles into the back yard- so I don't have to do it. They really were exemplary workmen: no truck radio blasting talk shows all day, no pounding with hammers, no f-bombs every third word. Also, most gratefully, no smell of tar. Greeted me whenever I went in and out and carried my rollator up or down the steps if they happened to be there. Two thumbs up.
And speaking of civility, should note that the Baptists on Christie, whatever their failings in the snow removal department, are more friendly than Torontonian wont. Was coming back from a shop and my knee decided to pull one of its diva arias- put the brace on top of me no!! put the brace below the kneecap no!! put it above the kneecap no not that either Imma spasm into unbending rigidity ohhhh.... so I had to stop every other step to push it up or down. At which I hear a voice from the Baptists' lawn- 'Miss! Miss! Are you alright?!' Staff for their summer kids' camp, probably not even twenty yet, concerned for the poor cripple. Which, in these days of curtailed social interaction, I will take and be happy.
