Roofing is a lot easier to take when you go to work every day, also when you aren't doing chimneys and flat roofs so it all gets done in a day. Yesterday was the front of our houses, with the top cupolas still to be done; today was next door's flat roof, or part thereof, probably because rain was both forecast and fell. Tomorrow I assume is finish flat roof: the makings thereof are sitting down in the back yard. Then they'll be tramping overhead to do the back part of the front, and finally my bunker roof. Yes, a good week, as foretold.

Next door is off in New York, which is good for them, but next door also has a friend house sitting who hadn't been warned about the roofers, and who arrived yesterday afternoon with luggage, only to find ladders blocking the front steps. I think roofers hadn't been told about house sitter either and so set their ladders on the theoretically uninhabited side. House sitter was not thrilled at having people pounding on the roof, but at least they don't start until 9, which is some people's notion of a civilized hour. Better than 7, at any rate.
