A lot of books, but also a lot of thin books and fluffy mysteries and such. The Courtier was substantial, as was the chunk of Magnifico I finished, and the last two novels were certainly not short. But, well...

The Renaissance memoirs are a yawn a minute. The Pitti made money by gambling with aristocrats, and then went around persuading cities to go to war with each other. Thus finance and diplomacy in the 14th century.
