Why gaijin should write what they know:
"When he was relocated by Hiroshi Systems, Ryu was offered a family apartment in Bayshore Park for himself, his wife and his son."

Fine, but his wife's name is Natsuo and his son's name is Tomiko. And no, I don't think someone who refuses to join 'the raucous drinking parties' of his colleagues would therefore be viewed with approval by his superiors and groomed for an upper position. The Noir series tend to make these mistakes when they're talking about stuff I know anything about- I have Toronto Noir now- which suggests one take them with a grain of salt.
