Sunday, May 19th, 2013 08:02 pmI don't know that the lilacs will stay out for the Glorious 25th, but they're out now, all over the neighbourhood, their blooming and falling delayed by the lovely cold snap a week ago. This is the first year the lilac bush has bloomed in profusion since the s-i-l had the tree cut way back. The last three years or so saw one or two sad blossoms growing on the south side, but now there are a good dozen at least. Of course the bush is getting close to the tree's former height hem-hem.
I've planted boston lettuce and swiss chard and more beets and cilantro seeds in the pool and the buckets. I *bought* zucchini and thought I'd planted them too, but see nothing that looks like it. Mind, I had a similar moment with the chard: couldn't find it anywhere; but that's because I'd put the flat down by the pool where it promptly assumed the look of the lemon verbena that runs riot there.
