Mid-Autumn Festival, like Midsummer, comes just after the start of the season

Moon Festival moon peers in the window. Cool breeze follows unseasonably warm day. Unseasonable warmth will return on Saturday. 'Cast not a clout'- do not put the fans away until the first snow falls.

Not a good day to dine in Chinatown, obviously, so I went to the Art Gallery's Members' Lounge to see what they had. They had a tiny portion of baba ghanoush for nine dollars. Ah well, have done that and need not do it again. Would have gone back to the exhibitions but my bloody hip was hurting too much to walk happily. This after acupuncture. Not sure what to try next: maybe strengthening abdominals?

Finished?
Elly Griffiths, The Chalk Pit
-- last/latest Ruth Galloway, where the domestic drama accompanies the piles of bodies. Half soap opera, half murder mystery.

Dorothy Gilman, Kaleidoscope
-- by the author of the Mrs. Pollifax books. Fluff, about a psychic in a city with subways that isn't New York. All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

V.E. Schwab, A Darker Shade of Magic
-- to have it finished. And well enough in its Joan Aiken way, but its London is not any other London I know. Preview of book 2 is intriguingly Maid on the Shore but I doubt I'll read it any time soon.

Now?
The last/ latest Viscount St Cyr, speaking of melodrama and bodies piling up.

Desultory, The Armor of Light.

Next?
New Aaronovitch is on its way. Should probably reread Foxglove Summer and possibly the comics to prepare.

I didn't see the moon last night, but Tuesday night it was rounding most beautifully, and I expect will be lovely tonight if it can be seen for the clouds.
I'm sorry you have hip pain.

Luckily the day's clouds dumped their rain and blew away for the evening.

Thank you. It's a byproduct of bad structural design.

There was no moon to begin with, rain and clouds but later on in the evening, the moon was glimpsed and we all went "Hooray!" and lit our lanterns. ^_^

We didn't sample many mooncakes this year. One at Starbucks earlier on in the season when the Hungry Ghosts were about, but we got given a couple the other day so we indulged at teatime and were content.

The moon continues to full and pretty even two days after but rain is on the horizon for this eventide. But we welcome it for it heralds our favourite 'sleeping weather'.
