Temps and humidity being bearable for the moment, got out to the library and my local Korean place. And then, since I was on Bloor anyway and have many days' inertia to make up for, continued over to Wiener's, where an unusually morose clerk said no, the tree loppers were on backorder still and no, of course they didn't have gripper thingies for weak old women trying to get lids off. Yeah well, *be* like that, Marty. So went and had an iced latte and googled on my phone. I haven't missed amazon much but if you want grippers, it's them or temu which hell no. Ikea has them but will not deliver for anything less than $40. Tree loppers are worse. Deleting amazon and temu from the search, we have Canadian Tire. Good. But they won't deliver, or won't deliver tree loppers, in spite of their cheery, lying, 'We still deliver! even with a postal strike!' banner. No, one must pick up because this is still a car city in spite of our dough-faced Premier's conviction that there's a war on cars.  Probably it won't hurt to check out the loppers in person, but there's no guarantee CT will have it at the closest outlet on the day, because their webpage also lies about availability.  This is a pain, no two ways about it.

(Some local online magazine was touting the joys of Collingwood, a small ski town north of us. "The happiest city in Ontario!" Maybe, if you drive, which I don't: and anyway, my generation is at the age when they definitely shouldn't.)

However, going home I met that mystery woman who occasionally greets me going up the street,  and at close quarters she resolves into M, my step-grandson's SO. Must get my eyes checked at some point as well as my hearing, but eyes at least cost and I'm still waiting to see what the new crown will cost. Even with insurance it will be A  Lot.

Heat and humidity will return by the weekend but I have that doorstop of an Ada Palmer to peruse, and will.
