Domestic
I am being reminded of why I let the housekeeping go. To wit: Monday I washed down the study table where I usually breakfast with my tablet. Dust of ages, coffee rings of ages, etc etc. sort of gone. (It's a very old Ikea table and there are limits to what can be accomplished without bleach.) Friday I run a finger over it and-- dust. Quite a lot of dust. The windows have been closed all week because heat, the central AC has not been on so nothing's coming up the vents, and still I have grey fingers from touching the table's surface. *Every week*?? I have to clean things *every week*?? The whole house has to be cleaned *every week*???? That is so not going to happen, guys.
However I did reswifter the bathroom tile with proper swifter cleaner so the residue there is gone. Half the problem is that I took up the runners in the hallway when I had my operation, to make it easier with the walker, and never put them back. Runners are very good at getting the crap off your feet, only then you have to vacuum them. But if they were there I wouldn't be tracking crumbs and maple keys and such into the bathroom.
Also I may have succeeded in unplugging my slow kitchen drain. Bought a new design of plunger which accomplished nothing the first time I used it. Tried again today and brought up great gobs of vegetable matter, provenance unknown, and the drain seems to work better. Only problem was getting the guck off the plunger itself, which has an inner lip that kind of holds things, but that's what paper towels are for.
The leaves on my cherry tree are already turning yellow and dropping off. Not sure if it's due to too much rain or not enough, but it's a bit worrying.
