Somehow I never realized that milkweed has flowers before it has pods and that the flowers look like daphne. 

Otherwise it's a lovely cool night and I can't run the window fans to bring in the fresh air because Quebec is burning again  and the air stinks of it.

I am really, really not looking forward to this summer. I think "smoke season" is pretty much permanent now.

It's new to us but definitely recurring.

Oh yes! Milkweed definitely has flowers.

And somehow in all my years of passing the weedy house down the block, I never registered this stage. I did at least think 'Those look like milkweed leaves but the flowers look like daphne.' Enh, live and learn.
