Bad and good

The bad: Am surrounded by hysterics, including feuding neighbours, and the raccoons have found a way to climb over the baffles on my cherry tree. Saw them do it and can't figure out how, except that they're damnably big.

The good: I now have the dvds of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and have watched the first episode of same. Very nice, except the gentleman looks a bit too much like something from a rock band and is far too menacing. He ought to be thistle-downy, light-weight, which makes what he does so much worse. However, we shall see if he changes.

So thank you, [personal profile] incandescens, for these and the book. Am well set up for the next little while.

My thought exactly on the Gentleman. Much more worrying if the dire consequences of his unthoughtout actions are all unintended. Why, suppose he should seek to be helpful to someone.

A pleasure! Very glad that the parcel got there safely.

I deeply regret that many of the gentleman's speeches got trimmed. (Even if it would have doubled the length of the series to leave them in.) They're such good speeches.

I'm sure an awful lot got trimmed that I'll regret, but one is grateful for what's there.
