There was a freezing rain warning from last night on but with the cheering caveat that 'areas near Lake Ontario are likely to receive only rain.' Which we did, but with winds that blew the rain sideways, a phenomenon previously seen only in typhoon Tokyo. And I had a chiro appointment so went out in it, in my rain cape that the wind blew about my head in the few minutes that I had to walk on an e-w street. Then stopped at my nearer coffee shop for a smoked salmon on cream cheese bagel. Owner added a free slice of Dufflet chocolate cake. Which was nice of him, but I see that he also carries copies of an anti-vaxx conspiracy rag which is oh dear.

Yesterday I had to mail a parcel so walked the two subway stops to the outlet and had to stop en route for a cocktail because things kept cramping and panging. Cocktail didn't really help because it takes more than 2 oz to iron out my muscles, even as I cut my drinking from every day to once a week, as Canada's latest draconian recommendations have it. ('Where's the science?', my s-i-l asks. Not to be found, I think, and anyway my long-lived French ancestors are having no part of this catastrophization.) Parcel mailed off, I start for home and a block away try to hail a cab. One that passed me turned round and came back, taking pity on the poor old cripple and her walker, because he said he saw another cab that passed me give me the finger as it did so. Not sure about that: surly drivers could be flipping off bike riders or anyone. Muscle relaxants and stretching and beanbags accomplished nothing, and I was quite prepared for a repeat on this raw dank pressure-changing day. And instead rose limber and flexible at 9:15. Couldn't go back to sleep, or rather, wasn't allowed to, because once again the scam calls were non-stop after 9:30. 'This is amazon',  'This is the credit card company', 'This is Rogers' (one of the big three providers and the most unreliable of the lot). But still, no pain days are a gift.

My property taxes have returned to their previous high, but I may hope will fall again in the second half. And if not, there are rebates. So am still content.

Speaking of parcels, I do have something to send your way, but Royal Mail is currently having issues with sending anything abroad - so apologies for the delay.

Royal Mail is still delivering, though with strikes on and off - so far I've been lucky in getting things (though occasionally a little late). OTOH, I'm definitely on the side of the strikers against the government, there and elsewhere, so I can't really complain too much.

Yeah, that kind of anti-vaccination thing is...disturbing.

"Oh dear", indeed (in the voice of Benton Fraser).
