Is DW changing something around or what? Gives me a total blank screen until I start typing and then I have the entry box again. Unless I stop and then it's blank screen time again until I resume typing.

Accomplished yesterday, though it was one of my owie days. Got my Chrsitmas cards, next year's calendar, and next year's daybook from Midoco, got a new sinus rinse set at the pharmacy because the old one was looking grungy (nothing like squirting bacteria up one's nose) also eardrops for wax buildup though what I wanted and they didn't have was polysporin for ears. Which I forgot to look for at Loblaws today. Couldn't bicycle because  knees objected even with the setting turned down a notch, but managed 40 minutes today, so yay me.

Did the math and subscribed to Kindle Unlimited because $10 a month is cheaper than buying half a dozen Mrs. Bradleys at 2.15 a pop and then discovered that the first month is free. Discovered also that it's scarcely Unlimited because after I'd snagged two titles I was informed that I'd reached my borrowing limit. Also it seems that I don’t actually own the titles I'm reading? That I've borrowed them only? Must look closer at the ToS.

A mere 2 books a month is the borrowing limit? Hardly unlimited.

Yeah, KU is borrowing only. An FAQ says you can borrow up to 20 KU "eligible" title at a time and they're identified by a badge. I don't know if that's a different badge than the general KU one. Maybe it's a limitation due to the trial?

I use a kindle app on my phone and buy all the books. I think I've returned 2 before I read it. One was bought by mistake and the other wasn't something I'd wanted to read once I'd read the first few pages.

I did get refunds at the time, but I'd barely opened them (virtually). If I read a book more than say, 20-30%, and drop it for whatever reason, I won't return it. Did you see the change in policy Amazon made recently on ebooks? They used to allow people who'd obviously read the entire book to still return it. Amazon is making it harder to do that as there was an outcry by many authors about it.

Most of my e-books I buy on Amazon - I keep an eye out for special deals (mentioned via twitter or otherwise) and I regularly check the e-book special offers ("Kindle Book Deals") at the start of every month.

It is also possible to download books from Project Gutenberg and then send them to your kindle to read them there, but alas, I don't think there are any Mrs Bradley out of copyright yet.

One can also send pdfs to your kindle and read them there, but the formatting doesn't always transfer well.

There are regularly monthly deals (which I think change on the first of every month) and then shorter one-off deals, of which Amazon often helpfully notifies you.

Of course, one may then end up with a to-read queue of books which were purchased as they were only 99p (or equivalent) and worth picking up for later reading, but ah well, such is life.

This is true. It may make me feel guilty, but at least it doesn't add to the stacks in my flat. :)

Still working from home, though with the occasional day in the office. (Could go in more often, but am quite comfortable at home.)
