In which I take another tentative step into the 21st century

Gladys Mitchell was indeed prolific, but my library only has 2/3 of her output, and only half of that circulates. As I suspect I'm incapable of reading a book in one day at the Reference Library, or at least very unwilling to do same, I checked amazon. And amazon has a plethora of her works, most of them e-books. A few paperbacks starting at $25+ once taxes and delivery are factored in.

Now, amazon has kindles on sale for about a hundred once taxes etc, but. But. Six by four inches? No, I can't read on that. Go up a few hundred dollars and I can have a whole seven inches. No, and especially not with amazon trying to push kindle unlimited or amazon prime on me ie hook them for a month and count on them forgetting to cancel. With my Swiss cheese brain I might well do that, though to be fair to me, any time amazon has thrust prime upon me, I've always cancelled it within days.

There's a kindle app for androids that no one has anything good to say about. Can't buy books through the app. Nor do I want to. Touch the screen by accident and the book skips to the end, or goes back to where you last left off, or even to the beginning. How annoying. But it's free. And the ebooks go for pennies, or at least half the price of a latte. Um, well, and that is why I now have a kindle app on my tablet. Go me.

There have been some more reasonably priced reprints over here in the UK - let me know if there are any particular titles you’re looking for?

Or one remembers the wrong things about the plot. "She went through the tunnel and shot her brother and then the other guy set fire to him because he'd always wanted to do a play about Nero," fails to reference anything in the book title or the description on the back cover.

Yes, I've had that too.
