The world is a dumpster fire
But still the Brits come through:
“It’s a bit like the death of Rasputin. He’s been poisoned, stabbed, he’s been shot, his body’s been dumped in the freezing river and still he lives,” Conservative MP Andrew Mitchell told BBC Newsnight.
Muggy humid rain is supposed to blow away tonight. Hope it does, because Other Knee is extremely unhappy in this weather. Of course so is the left hip which will not will not will not unclench no matter how many yoga poses I unleash on it.

No one has told him that denial didn't work for Trump. OTOH I have a horrid feeling it might work for him.
I'm actually surprised that the straw that broke the camel's back is a sex scandal that didn't involve him personall.

He's going to try for months, you know it. He needs Chequers for his wedding!

Hope the telecommunications issues in Canada aren't affecting you too badly, btw.

Belt and braces me has her cell and her Internet with different providers. Also has a landline in case of power outages. And my cell reception came back in the early afternoon.
BTW when is Scarlet coming out? I really need to read the whole thing in a format that lets me page back, aging brain being as it is.

Scarlet is probably coming out spring next year - maybe February or March (though of course I will be glad to supply you with a copy as soon as I get any early ones). I've just received the edits and am in the stage of tearing my hair and cursing at the computer screen. Will probably have calmed down tomorrow enough to be able to write an intelligent response to them...

Oh dear. Poor you. A writer's lot is not a happy one.
Covid time sense says you finished Scarlet back in late 2020 and surely it must be coming out soon, but covid time sense is notoriously wrong. As in, my cousin last Xmas, whom I haven't seen since early 2019, asked for the remaining copies of the Library and I went to gather them, plus the last one she'd read (for reference) and was kerblonxed to find there were four. Counted on fingers and yes, since 2018 makes four.

(On the other hand, I do like being published, so, swings and roundabouts and I suppose I shouldn't complain too loudly.)

I begin to think the Python Black Knight is more apropos. Not only does he keep losing body parts/ cabinet ministers, he's now cutting them off himself.
