Cough and sneeze and allergy symptoms being still in high gear, I exercised that abundance of caution people talk about and cancelled my massage appointment on Wednesday. I'll probably regret it but OTOH it's supposed to swelter that day with humidex up to 40C. Says Environment Canada; Weather Network says 22 on Weds, 28 on Thurs. We shall see.

Filled a bag with cuttings from the back garden and cleared at least the bed closest to the house of the runner vines. Made a start on the bed by the garage, accompanied by a plushy tortoiseshell cat who came and lay down in the long quackgrass on the other side of the path,  looking hopefully up at the branches of the cherry tree. I assume she thought the birds might come down to her which, no, not bloody likely. How do outdoor cats manage to kill birds anyway? I suppose if you have lawns the birds will descend to get worms. Another reason not to have lawns, I guess.

Ground-feeding birds are vulnerable, as are those too low in the bush. Bus-stop Cat is a portly and, now, middle-aged gentleman, but retains explosive vertical acceleration from a sitting start.
