The reason I didn't open my electric knife sharpener for at least two weeks after I got it is because it came in an adult-proof heat-sealed thick plastic container that is impervious to any of my scissors and that, once cut into, turns into a sharp edged weapon that will cut/ gouge flesh unless one is veeery careful. A pity that you can't sharpen scissors on it. For that I need a whetstone that I don't have the arm strength to make effective. But oh is it nice to have sharp knives again! I note that my yard sale knives, bought in the 80s, sharpen up better than my Ikea paring knives, but the yard sale knives were made in Japan long before that country started outsourcing its manufacturing so no wonder.
The forecast for today said flurries which meant an inch of snow overnight. The March sun took care of most of it but we're still very polar vortex so it's a toss up if I'll be able to walk to acupuncture tomorrow.
Also my doctor's office is moving, not far from where she was: kind of one long block away, around the corner and up a main street. The theory is that, if I ever get to see her again, I can take the subway waay out east and then a bus that winds around and drops me a block or so away. This might be considered an improvement on the current route's many changes: (the infrequent Christie bus to subway unless I walk it)- east subway to Yonge, north subway to Eglinton, bus to a block from Bayview. But a bus that winds its way from Bloor to Eglinton is going to be a slow bus. Alternatively I can take the north subway to the stop before Eglinton and catch a Bayview bus there, which will drop me at the door. But this is all predicated on me not using my walker, because there are no elevators at my subway station and I'm not humping that thing down two flights of stairs. But as I say, something for the future.
